Marius Stan is a scientific researcher, leader of the smart materials program at Argonne National Laboratory, and professor at the University of Chicago and Northwestern University, who uses AI and high-performance computer simulations to understand and predict the properties of complex systems with applications in energy (nuclear materials and batteries), electronics (computer memory), and national security. After moving to the U.S. in 1997, Marius Stan was a Senior Scientific Researcher at Los Alamos National Laboratory and National Director for Computing at the U.S. Department of Energy during the Obama administration. In 2021, he decided to devote himself to personal projects focused on the use of artificial intelligence in science, technology, and art. Dr. Stan gives a series of international conferences on this topic and is working on a book about human and artificial intelligence.
